NYA’s First Summer Math Camp was a Success

Our first free "Summer Math Camp" was held between August 1 and 12, 2022 at Alaaka Association, Newark. 9 students attended the camp that started at 9 am and ended at 1 pm daily. Students were also offered snacks and lunch for free. The camp was a success.

College Application Bootcamp Summer 2022

Our first of the two College Application Bootcamps in 2022 was held on June 11-12, 2022 at Montclair State University. The Bootcamp aimed to prepare current juniors and some sophomores for college applications. 30 tenth and eleventh graders attended the two-day Bootcamp.

College Path Mentorship as a Method of Supporting Students

We meet every Saturday to discuss their transition out of high school, explore their college interests, and openly address their anxieties. I share with them my own struggles in applying to college and encourage them to keep a journal in order to learn more about themselves... After several weeks, my mentees vocalize feeling more prepared for their journey into college and that is all I could ask for.
