Establishing a College Counseling Center
New York Academy held a workshop for college guidance counselors on May 12, 2018. The workshop took place online with teachers participating from about 1o different countries.
The main theme of the workshop was “Establishing a hybrid American school model for OVERSEAS schools.” Participants were also presented a sample college mentorship program for students from 6th through 11 grade.
Topics discussed on the workshop included:
– Establishing a college guidance department
– Implementing an honors & advance placement (ap) program
– Conducting official PSAT, SAT & SAT Subject tests regularly
– Becoming an SAT Exam Center (if possible)
– Investing in stem education
– After school clubs & athletics
-College mentorship program – 6th thru 11th grade
